Why The Iphone Isn’t As Great As You May Think
The iphone was released in 2007 to much acclaim. The Apple rumour mill had been in full flow before the release and it instantly became the most talked about mobile phone model of all time, although not everyone feel in love with it instantly.
The Apple marketing department have worked wonders with the iphone, convincing millions of people around the world that it is the best phone on the marketing and persuading them to buy it. What they don’t tell you is that beneath it’s fabulous shell, the iphone lacks on a number of levels. This article aims to make you completely aware of all it’s downsides.
1. The cost – The iphone is still one of the most expensive mobile phones on the market today, despite recent moves the bring the price down. A large part of the price is simply paying for the ‘Apple’ brand and does not always equate to high quality parts. As the iphone becomes available on more and more networks the price should fall, but while demand remains so high it’s unlikely to fall far.
2. Compatibility with Microsoft Exchange – This is a huge downside for business users of the iphone. The iphone is not fully compatible with Microsoft Exchange and as a result has to check the mail server to determine if there are any new emails, rather than having the emails automatically ‘pushed’ to it like it’s Blackberry rival. This can cause frustrating delays when receiving emails.
3. Irreplaceable Battery – It’s not possible to change the battery of an iphone unless you are a qualified Apple technician. This may not seem like a big deal but it has quite big implications, particularly for those that like to carry a spare battery in case the main one runs out. For those that need power to their mobile phones 24/7, this could be a deciding in factor when choosing a phone.
4. No proper keyboard – The iphone is completely operated by a touch screen keyboard which makes it very difficult for new users to get used to. People who are young and used to new technology tend to pick it up quickly but old users in particularly are known to really struggle with the touch screen.
5. iphone camera – The camera on the iphone is definitely one of its weak points. With only 2 megapixels, its well behind its rivals such as the Blackberry, and the difference is quality is noticeable. With the price of the model being so high, more is expected.
