How to Copy Wii Games and Save Thousands of Dollars

Picture this: You learn how to copy Wii games. You no longer have to fret over something happening to your precious game discs. If one gets scratched, lost, or damaged, it’s no longer a problem. You just grab another backup disc from your “Case Logix” case. Even better, you don’t have to pay full price for games anymore. Your friends all chip in for the latest games, since you’ll be making copies and splitting the cost. This isn’t just a fantasy. This is reality for a lot of people.

I’m going to give you a list, now, of things to round up before you get started copying games. Ready? Ok, you need a Wii game to copy. You need a blank DVD+/- R. You’ll need a PC or Mac to utilize. The PC or Mac needs to have a DVD+/- R burning drive installed on it. And then you need an installation of some great game backup software on the computer.

The special software is the most important part of making sure that this process functions correctly. Game corporations are getting smarter and making their game discs with supposedly unbreakable security to prevent backing-up going on. However, the security is able to be hacked and the utilities for doing so can be found on the web. A short internet search will return a a list of a dozen that can all be purchased. Different web pages sell different versions with different features and cost can often be wildly variable. Performing your research on this one pays off as they normally say what the program can and can’t do. Look at the specs and go from there.

My personal preference is to only go with a software package that is capable of copying games from not just the Wii, but from all consoles. I mean, why pay the same price for software that might not have all of the functionality. You should also be wary of software that comes via torrent, as it may not be legitimate.

It is critical that your PC has a drive that has the ability to read Wii game discs. Not 100% do, but so long as you are using a fairly new PC or Mac, it shouldn’t be anything to fret about. If you have ever watched a DVD on the PC, then there’s a pretty good chance that you have a pretty good drive.

When you have purchased the utility, your next step will be to install it on the PC. The utility, will then guide you through the process of taking the game data off of the Nintendo Wii disc, stripping away the encryption on it, and prompting you to put in a blank DVD to burn the game onto.

The backup process is very simple. The utility will rip a complete snapshot of the disc to a file on your PC, almost in a cloned format. With the right emulator, you could even play that file on your PC! That, however, is beyond the scope of this article. Once the disc is burned, simply label it and insert it into your Wii. It should function just like a Wii game that you purchased at the store.

So now that you understand how to copy Wii games, you should back up your entire collection. Wii games are such fragile objects that, if you think about it, you’re never more than a dropped CD case away from losing your entire collection. The copy process takes no time at all, and unless you have a very large collection, you should be able to backup your whole library in no more than an hour or two. So get copying, and enjoy!

The author of this useful how-to guide is a former African bush pilot who got tired of flying around wild beasts when taking off with his plane, and decided to become a tech writer instead. His current obsession is writing about how to copy Wii games. He is trying to single-handedly defeat the hegemony of the game companies, and wants you to help him, by learning to copy Wii games.
